  • A Centre designed to support the digital media industry in Wales was this week launched by the First Minister. Carwyn Jones was invited to the University of Glamorgan’s Atrium building in Cardiff to unveil its new Centre for Media Innovation and Enterprise.
  • A high-mileage Ford Fiesta has returned to the Welsh production home of its engine.   • A state-of-the-art hybrid centre for digital media innovation and enterprise has been opened today by the First Minister of Wales at the University of Glamorgan’s ATRiuM campus in Cardiff.
  • Financial software and servicing company Target Group is expanding following another significant contract win. As a result, more than 30 jobs will be created at its servicing centre at Tredegar Park, near Newport.
  • A Welsh Automotive Forum (WAF) member and leading manufacturer and supplier of passenger seating has been given a royal seal of approval. Swansea based Cogent Passenger Seating has become one of the first companies to participate in the Prince of Wales Innovation Scholars (POWIS) scheme.
  • EADS Defence and Security of Newport is providing expertise to e-Crime Wales. The company is a leading partner in the defence and global security markets and a leading UK supplier to the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces, Emergency Services and the UK Government.
  • GE Aircraft Engine Services, the South Wales test and repair company, has tripled its profits and seen turnover break through £1bn after a switch in strategy. The Nantgarw company, owned by GE, saw business take off after it chose to concentrate on core GE engines such as the GE90. It predicts further growth after making a pre-tax profit of £33.9m in 2009, up from £11.2m the year before, on turnover of just over £1bn, up from £817m.
  • Wales is taking the lead in enabling medical manufacturers design affordable, one-off tailor-made devices to meet the health needs of individual patients.
  • A key IT project completed by the Welsh Assembly Government and Capgemini UK plc has won the top IT award in the European Outsourcing Association (EOA) Awards 2010, beating entries from other parts of the UK, France, Germany and Italy to win the first prize.
  • 2sys, an established company that specialises in developing web-hosted software management systems for business across a number of sectors, is expanding its operations into Wales.
