Wind

  • Infinite resources: There are already 25 offshore and onshore wind farms in Wales harnessing the immense potential, with over 27 more in the pipeline – including at high altitude Forestry Commission-managed sites.
  • Companies: Utility companies such as npower renewables, E.ON and Falck Renewables are operating established wind farms, and there is a growing network of suppliers including turbine manufacturer Gamesa, and energy consultants Energy & Power.
  • Academic and industry links: Wales has a ready supply of engineering research expertise, including Swansea University’s materials department which studies mechanical behaviour and long-term performance.

In Wales you can also access an established supply chain network for wind power operators and equipment manufacturers. Wind power equipment and technical expertise represent a real strength.
