First live trading floor for undergraduates
Cardiff Business School is unveiling a training securities trading floor to help its students gain vital experience of live trading in simulated markets.
Cardiff Business School is one of only five universities in the UK with this facility – and is the first to offer this training to undergraduates as well as postgraduates.
This experience is invaluable hands-on learning for students who intend to start careers in financial services – and will provide employers with the skilled graduates they need.
The centre will initially cover equities trading but is intended to extend the training to Forex (Foreign Exchange) and derivatives. It will have the latest Thomson Reuters information services along with specialist software so that teachers will be able to simulate and control markets and conditions.
First Minister Rhodri Morgan said the new training securities trading floor was one of a number of initiatives being supported by the Welsh Assembly Government to strengthen the region as a centre for financial services.
“The initiative will boost the skills base and provide Wales with an attractive proposition for investment projects in the financial services sector.” First Minister Rhodri Morgan
