City of London’s Lord Mayor finds Wales flourishing

Lord Mayor of the City of London recently visited Wales to gain an insight into the financial services sector in Wales and future investment opportunities.

David Lewis is head of the City of London Corporation and the ambassador for the UK financial services industry.

LS&B image Lord Mayor of the City of London, David Lewis He was officially appointed by the First Minister Rhodri Morgan as one of a number of high profile ambassadors for Wales, and has special responsibility for promoting and developing the UK’s financial services sector.

International Business Wales has already been involved in several events organised by the Lord Mayor’s office, both in the UK and overseas – enabling them to meet and network with key companies, and promote Wales.

First Minister Rhodri Morgan said: “The visit provides us with a superb platform to highlight and promote the sector in Wales, while giving industry representatives an opportunity to meet David Lewis, who is a superb ambassador for Wales.”

The Lord Mayor met representatives from financial services companies across Wales, including Moneysupermarket.com and Avox. He also visited Cardiff Business School, The Institute of Life Science, Boots Innovation Centre and Digital Technium at Swansea University, as well as the offices of Admiral Insurance and Money Pilot.
