Admiral creates 450 new jobs in Wales and expands into Italy

FTSE-100 listed Admiral is to open its 3rd site in south Wales – and its 1st in Italy.

Admiral is opening its first office in Newport and creating 90 new jobs – with another 300 more over the next two to three years. This will be the 3rd office in Wales for the FTSE-100 listed company.

“We’re very proud to be based in Wales, and it’s fantastic that we don’t have to look outside for offices in such excellent surroundings.”

“Newport’s position gives us access to a large reservoir of potential staff and we’re keen to take advantage of this.”
Ceri Assiratti, Admiral’s Head of People Services.

Admiral’s Newport office will be at the newly built 30,000 sq ft Guinevere House, on Rombourne’s Langstone Business Park development, at Junction 24 of the M4.

Admiral is also taking additional space in buildings in Cardiff and Swansea and the company has recruited more than 400 people already in 2008 in its claims, customer services, sales and renewals departments. Last year, its turnover was £824m.

The new operation will create 450 jobs in total and it is expected that around 40% of staff will come from the group’s existing claims handling team based in Cardiff, resulting in the creation of 270 new jobs.

As well as being a profitable, skills-rich location, Wales is also proving to be a successful base for international financial services activity.

The motor insurance group has recently launched its first operation in Italy – and it already has motor insurance subsidiaries in Germany and Spain. The new office will trade under the name of ConTe from its headquarters in Rome.
