A Wrexham aerospace firm wins a £40m deal with Airbus

An Aerospace component maker with a factory in north east Wales has won a deal with Airbus expected to generate revenues of more than £40m over the next 10 years.

Magellan Aerospace (UK) said it has secured more work on Airbus' new extra wide bodied A350 airliner.

It will make complex machined aluminium components and assemblies that form the structure of the pylon used to secure engines to the aircraft.

Work on the new contract will begin at Magellan's UK facilities at Llay, near Wrexham, and in Bournemouth.

Substantial investment in new high technology equipment will be made as the production rate increases from 2012.

In April, Magellan signed a deal to provide parts for Airbus’ A380 superjumbo and was also selected to carry out work on the A350 centre wing box.

Wings for the A380 are made at Airbus’ Broughton factory. Production of the A350 wings will start on the site next year.
